‘Journeyman Die’ by JoeJesus and Hoevelkamp
[full size (1440×900)]

It’s been a while since I worked on my rock pieces, so I decided to delve back in, starting with this one. I tweaked the instrumentation and reworked the mixing, along with – at last – adding some lyrics!

[Verse 1]
You’re all set and ready to go
You know we’ve nothing left to sow
The dock is clear, the time is near
The moon bids its welcome
Across the endless desolation
The map of astral isolation
I wanna go far, I wanna go home

[Chorus 1]
Lights are on tonight and we rise
The world below is leaving us behind under the skies
Above this endless pantomime
Of a future near and dear
Leave this world and this fear of mine will disappear

[Verse 2]
Diamonds in the sky forever
Over the sunset blue
He wants to move on, but don’t know what to do
Stuck somewhere ’tween me and you
We soar like a bird
Over the empty heavens
I don’t want to make amends

[Chorus 2]
The lights are on tonight as we rise
The world below is leaving us behind under the skies
Above this endless pantomime
Is a future near and dear
Leave this world and this fear of mine will disappear

[Bridge 1]
See the ground drop below
Under the midnight rainbow
What you need is what I have
Where we’re going is a place of consolation
Together in this escalation
Tonight, we fly

[Chorus 3]
The lights are on tonight and we arise
The world below us leaves behind
The treasures of the skies
Above this senseless pantomime
Of a future near and dear
We leave this world and this fear of mine will disappear

[Outro Verse]
World is far below
Faces shining in its glow
Lights all around us as we go
Troubles past and lives untold
Reveal, the acts of a better nature
We feel, the fate, the bitter failure
We’re going far from here
Oh, so far from here

  1. 11/09/11: Made a few minor volume and sound tweaks to polish it up for tomorrow’s interview with my new potential music teacher. Also added more distortion to the solo guitar.
